16 Teas Sri Lanka Sri Lanka is an agricultural country with highly developed tea plantations. In fact, Ceylon tea is a globally recognised trademark. Although Ceylon is most often associated with black tea, the green variety from plantations near Kandy - the ancient capital - is certainly worth trying. (9)10200 Ceylon Green 70 g 1 kg 2 A unique and rare Ceylon tea from the Kandy region, the ancient capital of Sri Lanka. The tea is produced to a Chinese method of preparation. Its taste is dominated by meadow flowers and honey, and at the end by ripe fruit. India, Nepal Most Indian plantations were established during the British Empire and were primarily focused on black tea production. Since around 1985, however, experienced tea growers in the traditional regions of Assam and Darjeeling have also been producing highly valued green teas using the Japanese steaming method. (9)10289 Darjeeling Arya Green Tea GFTGFOP1 60 g 1 kg 2-3 The garden was formerly known as „Sidrabong“. In 1885, it was renamed as Arya by Buddhist monks. It is located on the outskirts of the city of Darjeeling at an altitude of 850–1,800 meters above sea level. Small green leaves create an ochreyellow. You can find apricot and mirabelle combined with a herbal note in the taste and aroma (9)10258 Nepal Green Tea 60 g 1 kg 1-2 Green tea from the Ilam garden, the first plantation to be set up in Nepal. The plants are grown at altitudes from 915 to 1,830 m. The slightly curled leaves are green in hue with a scattering of light tips that give a pale yellow infusion, which features the tea rose in its taste and aroma. (9)10284 OXALIS TEA STUDIO - Nilgiri Maofeng 50 g 1 kg 2-3 Handcrafted tea from the innovative Tea Studio factory, which was established in 2018 in the Nilgiri Mountains. It is located at an altitude of 1,850 meters amidst picturesque tea gardens. The collection is done here in a unique way – collecting only the bud and one leaf below it. The elongated, slightly twisted leaves in khaki color create a yellow-green infusion. You can find umami in the aroma and taste, which is then accompanied by sweet lemon. (9)10286 Nilgiri Krishna Temple TGFOP 60 g 1 kg 2-3 The garden is situated in Nilgiri at an altitude of 1,900 m above sea level. The area in which it is situated was originally inhabited by Scottish settlers, who were reminded of their native Highlands. The tea factory produces mainly green tea. The elongated green leaves create a yellow-green infusion. The aroma and taste combine umami and young peas with a slightly smoky finish. (9)10293 Tea Studio - Nilgiri Slender 30 g 0.25 kg multiple infusions This high-quality green tea comes from the Nilgiri Mountains of India, also known as the Blue Mountains. For its production, only the bud and a single leaf beneath it are carefully hand-picked and meticulously processed. Nilgiri Slender captures the purity of nature and the precision of traditional craftsmanship. Its slender, elongated, dark green leaves produce a light-colored infusion. The aroma reveals delicate grassy notes, while the taste offers a smooth umami character combined with hints of young barley. (9)810292 South India Paralai Green FOP ORGANIC NEW 60 g 1 kg 2-3 The garden is located at an altitude of 1,600 m in the Anamallais district, which is characterised by a diverse ecosystem and a number of water bodies. The area is home to many species of wildlife, including large herds of elephants. The light and dark green twisted leaves give a yellow-green infusion. The aroma and taste are dominated by citrus fruits combined with juicy green apple. (9)810118 Woojeon ORGANIC 70 g 0.5 kg 3 In terms of quality, this is the finest type of Korean green tea, which is harvested right at the start of the growing season. The irregularly rolled green leaves make a crystal clear, pale green infusion, showing a mildly sweet taste with tones of milk, almond and a mellow grassy finish.
