Teas 23 921334 Taiwan Binlin Oolong 921335 Taiwan Four Season Oolong Vietnam Tea has been grown in Vietnam since 1825, when French settlers established the first plantations. The development of the tea industry was slowed by years of political instability, and greater expansion did not take place until the early 20th century. Today, Vietnam produces over 80,000 tonnes of black and green tea annually, along with several flavoured varieties. The vast majority of green tea is consumed domestically, while black tea is primarily exported worldwide. Tea trees are grown here at a high altitude of around 1,100 m. The cultivar used to produce this tea is locally called Thanh Tam, but it is actually the Qing Xin ‘Green Heart’ cultivar originally imported from Taiwan. This oolong is oxidised to approximately 70%. When the leaves are infused, an ochre-coloured infusion is produced. You can detect cocoa beans in the aroma. The taste is dominated by roasted chestnuts and cereal malt.
